The Force is with one man on a mission to wear a different pair of trainers every day in 2014 in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK… Donate here
You know, I’ve never been able to spot that moment in Return Of The Jedi when the effects guys allegedly used a tennis shoe as a spaceship…
I suppose I should have kept this for May the Fourth (“be with you”) but I couldn’t go four months without a Star Wars gag. I’m sure I’ll have another idea by then.
But, being a stickler for detail, I had to wear the nearest thing I own to tennis shoes for this shot. And since I chucked away my Green Flash last year (if anybody had any size nine Green Flash to loan I’d love to feature them this year at some point) these Stan Smiths fitted the bill… not that I can ever imagine Andy Murray wearing shoes with Velcro fastenings.
Stan Smiths are great (especially the new range). Stan Smiths with Velcro fastenings…? Not so much. I bought these years ago when a contestant on Big Brother was wearing them; now, there’s a lesson to be learnt. Always meant to get around to buying a lace up pair; just never got around to it, and so now the world must know I own the kind of footwear you always see outside cells in episodes of Police, Camera, Action! Shoe snob? Me? Wait till you see some of the Triathlon Plus rejects I’ll be wearing next week.
And before I sign off or the day, another in my occasional series:“Most Sci-Fi Cons On The Net”:
