Day 41: White Vans Man

White trainers, white robot, white balls… Everything’s gonna be all white!

Feb 10 a

Today I am the white Vans man, so expect to see me with a “Clean Me” sign stuck to my back as I cut you up in corridors.

Not sure what all the white balls are about, but anything white and shiny instantly looks sci-fi. Actually, the balls look really ’70s sci fi (I’m thinking A Clockwork Orange, maybe THX 1138) while Mandroid has more of an ’80s vibe. All of which just proves that nothing dates like the future, but white will never go out of sci-fi fashion.

Of course, I have worn some white Vans before in this challenge (see day 15) but they were slips on, so these count as a different style. Besides, white lace-up Vans looks stylish, while white slip-ons look like you’ve been forced into an institution.

Worked out yesterday that with the number of trainers left in my own collection left to wear in this challenge, plus the ones I can reliably count on being loaned or donated I can make it through to the first week of March. Gulp! That’s a lot of year left. Time to move things up a gear.

Also came across this in my ’net travels. Half expect it to win the Turner Prize. But it’s also proof you can have to much of a good thing; I love Cons but this makes me feel a bit ill, to be honest.
