Prepare for retinal onslaught… I might be wearing some fine Nike runners (the good) but there’s plenty of bad and very ugly further down the blog…
The bad and ugly are on the way, but let’s start with today’s fine pair of Nike runners, which are a loan from Mr Simon Withers. You may recall I had a good old moan about a previous pair he loaned me (click here if you missed that installment) but they were fairly tasteful compared to some garish monstrosities that trainer companies have expected us to wear on our feet.
And while basketball sneakers are the worst serial offenders, they are far from alone when it comes to gaudy fashion crimes that only the Sixth Doctor (or Will.i.am) would have considered the height of elegance.
So, as a Sunday treat, here are some of the most god-awful trainers ever released.
(Also noticed that a got a few Brooks related followers yesterday… There are some Brooks trainers on the way folks, they just need a really good clean first! They’ve had a tough winter).

Literally just discovered these on line:
This style is called Roundel Air Max 1 London Underground. You may be wondering why – apart from the fact that they should be buried underground and left there.
They were released late last year to celebrate 150 years of the London Underground, so you’d think there would be a bit of a tube map vibe going on. Instead, the designers took their cue from the upholstery of the trains’ seats.
That’s like celebrating 100 years of UK cinema with a pair of trainers designed to look like greasy hot dogs.
Current total: £520 (thanks Rhian and Steve!)
