Into three figures!
I’ve been wondering for a while now if I should celebrate Day 100 with a special post. I even asked for suggestions on Twitter. The problem was always going to be that it fell on a Thursday – my busiest day of the week (curse you Comic Review) – so I was never going to have time to make 100 little origami trainers (Rhian’s idea) or a pyramid of trainers (Zoe suggested that one) or perform a song and dance number (cheers CherryBomb).
Plus, when I got into the office I discovered I’d left my camera’s memory card at home (blame a combination of hangover, the onset of a cold and having to swap bags… it was all too much for my poor, befuddled brain). So today’s pic needed to be done on my iPhone.
Maybe that was all for the best. Because instead of creating something big and glitzy and showy, maybe a better way to mark the occasion is return to basics and a reminder of the whole point of the Sole Of Sci-Fi.
A guy, wearing a different pair of trainers every day in 2014, posting a pic online to prove he’s doing so. And if there’s a sci-fi element too, all the better.
The trainers are amy own pair of Vans LXVI Stats. Although I can’t find anything to confirm this online (my Google-fu is failing), I assume they’re called LXVI because Vans was founded in 1966 (LXVI being the Roman numerals for 66).
The screensaver on my Mac is Minions as Avengers (which I mention because I know someone will ask).
The challenge is all in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK, a charity that desperately needs some extra funds to combat an illness that slowly kills your personality and robs you of your identity.
I’m not asking people to donate an arm and a leg (see what I did there?) but now that I’ve reached Day 100 I hope a few of those people who keep saying they will donate when they think I’m actually going to complete this challenge will dig into their pockets now.
That’s all the time I have for wibbling today. On with Comic Review!
