Day 127: Bollocks, Yoda Speaks

Size does matter, no matter what your Jedi master may tell you…

May 7 main 2

No matter what Yoda might tell you, size does matter. Shoe size, at least. Bought these great purple Adidas off eBay for under a tenner  and they claim to be size 8 1/2. And no, I’m not getting UK/US sizes mixed up; the label says US size 9, UK size 8 1/2. Which should have rung alarm bells because usually US size 9 is equal to UK size 8. Even granting that, these are incredibly ungiving size 8s. This is going to be a toe-crunching day.

Having a work from home day. It’s amazing how much work you can get done when the phone’s not constantly ringing. I’ll be mostly resizing images which is one of those brainless jobs that’s much better achieved with the constant drone of home improvement and antique shows buzzing away in the background. I daren’t listen to music as it distracts me, and Jeremy Kyle just gets me very, very angry (and makes me want to brush my teeth, for some reason).

Loved the first Eurovision heat last night – some wonderfully dire songs (especially the rather large Belgian chap who sang a love song to his mother… who he appeared to have eaten just before coming on stage), though Hungary’s rock/pop anthem about child abuse was just plain wrong (was it a sick joke?).

Glad to see the Khaleesi was back for the second year in a row, and this time she brought the Unsullied along as backing dancers.

May 7 Eurovison Moldova

Solo singers accompanied by a single lone circus performer were all the rage; there was a skater, a girl on a swing and one guy in giant hamster wheel.Russia brought along a see-saw and a pair of twins conjoined by platted hair. Judging by the boos, annexing parts of neighbouring countries may not have done much for their chances. Conversely, judging by the cheers, Ukraine has a very good shout. And talking of shouting… Armenia seem oblivious to the fact that an ability to sing is a good quality in an entrant.

Most bizarre of all, though, was the video clip that accompanied the performance of the winning Danish entry from last year. It was like watching the great lost Russell T Davies episode of Doctor Who, in which evil aliens were abducting all the gay teenagers in the world!

Can’t wait to see what silliness the Thursday heat brings.
