I’m sorry… so, so sorry* for the standard of today’s pun… It’s another one of those emergency back-up days… (*see what I did there, Who fans?)
This is one of the most strained puns so for in this challenge. Even Doctor Who fans who recognise the picture might be scratching their heads. It’s because the Amy describes the arrival of the cubes in “The Power Of Three” as the “silent invasion”.
But cut me some slack. My modem carked it yesterday, and I’ve been putting this blog together by tethering my phone to my laptop, which is a) stupidly slow if you’re dealing with images and b) stupidly costly if you’re dealing with images.
So this image is a rapidly produced replacement for something else, using an image I had on file, with a headline pun shoehorned in afterwards because I had to make the headline fit the image.
Talking of shoehorned in, today’s shoes (another on loan from Simon Withers) could kindly be described as borderline when it comes to traineriness (perhaps that why the Doctor, Rory and Amy look so confused in the photo). I’ve been waiting for an “emergency” day like today to use them, hoping that sympathy for my plight will outweigh possible objections. In my defence, they do have very trainery soles!
So today I’m waiting in all day for the delivery of a new modem, reading a book for review (the new Eric Brown, which once again feels like it’s fallen through a time warp from a more innocent time for sci-fi) and prepping for an interview next week that I’m very excited about. Won’t spoil it just yet, but sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty, right?
Normal service will resume tomorrow.
