Day 275: The Blue Heel Or The Red Heel?

Let’s hope the story doesn’t end here – there’s still 9o days to go!

October 2 main

Yesterday I totally forgot to mention that I’m now into the final quarter of the challenge. I suppose that’s an indication of how grinding this challenge has become; I’m not aware of the milestones any more. It also means I nearly called this blog “The Matrix Relaced”, because I’d totally forgotten I’d even done a Matrix-related blog with that title already. I’m seriously looking forward to 1st January  2015 now…

In lieu of the fact I have nothing interesting to write today, here’s a piece of flash fiction I wrote in five minutes last week for reasons too complicated to explain (but which in a roundabout way involves ghosts even though the short story isn’t supernatural in the slightest – one day I’ll explain everything):

It was now or never. He typed “550” then clicked “PLACE BID”.

“YOU ARE THE HIGHEST BIDDER” flashed up. Two seconds left.

The screen refreshed. “YOU WON THIS AUCTION”.

Phew. That was close. Not that he actually had to pay. He’d put the thing on eBay then bid on it using a fake account. He just needed to know its value.

He picked up his iPhone: “U can have Lunars”.

He picked up the album, slid the vinyl disc from the sleeve, scratched a rusty nail through its groove then added to record to the “Emma” pile.

See you tomorrow.
